A Practice That Got Narrower On Purpose

Most dentists broaden their scope over a career. Dr. Shamieh has done the opposite. After fourteen years spanning military, academic, private and large-group dentistry, he stopped trying to cover every branch of the field and built a practice around the problems he most wants to solve: missing teeth, failing teeth, difficult extractions and the reconstruction that follows.

That decision came from experience rather than preference. Across those settings he kept finding himself drawn to the same patients people with broken or failing teeth, people already wearing dentures that never quite worked, people who had been told their remaining teeth could not be saved. Those cases demand judgment more than volume: which teeth can predictably be kept, which have to go, how the bone and gum tissue should be managed, and what kind of replacement gives the right balance of stability, function, appearance and cost.

Extraction Treatment Process

Extraction treatment is planned around the condition of the tooth, the surrounding bone and tissue, your comfort needs and whether the tooth will eventually be replaced. Every case is different, but treatment may include the following steps.

Consult and Imaging

We examine the tooth and surrounding area and obtain the imaging needed for your case. We discuss whether the tooth can be saved, what the extraction involves, comfort options and whether replacement should be planned.

Replacement Planning

If the tooth will be replaced, the denture is designed and fabricated before your extraction appointment. When an immediate denture is appropriate, it is delivered on the day the teeth are removed.

Surgery day

The tooth is removed as carefully as possible. When clinically appropriate, bone grafting or implant placement may be performed during the same surgical visit.

Ongoing Dental Care

Patients referred by another dentist return to that dentist for routine and preventive care. If you do not already have a general dentist, we can help you locate one in your preferred area.

We Handle the Surgical Part. Your Patient Returns to You.

Mission: Dental Implants accepts referrals for surgical extractions, impacted teeth, broken roots, implant-related treatment and other focused surgical or prosthetic care. We coordinate the treatment you referred and return the patient to your practice for ongoing general and preventive care.

Defined Scope

Surgical and prosthetic treatment only. Routine care remains with the referring practice.

Case Updates

Clinical notes and relevant imaging are returned to the referring practice as appropriate during treatment.

Complex Extractions

Impacted teeth, broken roots and extraction cases you prefer to refer for surgical management.

Digital Planning

Digital imaging and scanning are used when appropriate to support surgical and prosthetic planning.

For referring dentists

Extraction Questions, Answered Plainly

The area is fully numbed before treatment begins. You may feel pressure and movement during the procedure, but you should not feel sharp pain. If you are anxious about treatment, let us know during the consultation so appropriate comfort and sedation options can be discussed in advance.

Most simple extractions feel largely settled within a few days. Surgical sites and wisdom teeth can take a week or more to feel normal. We’ll give you a timeline specific to your case at the appointment.

Dry socket happens when the healing blood clot is dislodged from the extraction site before it can protect the bone underneath. Avoiding straws, smoking and vigorous rinsing for the first few days lowers the risk considerably. We’ll walk through aftercare instructions in detail before you leave.

Not always, but waiting too long can let the bone shrink and neighboring teeth shift out of position. If replacement is likely down the road, we can graft the site the same day as the extraction to keep that option open.

Coverage depends on the specific procedure and your plan. We verify eligibility before scheduling, so you know what’s covered before treatment begins.
